The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, has further boosted the ongoing registration and revalidation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the creation of a registration centre with free National Identification Number (NIN) registration within the council secretariat.

The initiative which aimed at ensuring that council staff also have the opportunity to partake in the exercise started on Tuesday at the Imota LCDA Council Secretariat.

Hon. BSA explained that establishing a registration centre within the council premises allows staff members to participate in the APC’s digital membership exercise in a convenient manner, particularly given their tight work schedules from Monday to Friday.

He described the exercise as a crucial step towards strengthening the APC at the grassroots level and deepening internal democracy within the party, while urging staff members to seize the opportunity to obtain their NIN and complete the party’s e-membership registration at no cost.

“This is an opportunity to officially belong to the APC and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of our great local government. Let us demonstrate our unity, strength, and commitment to progress by participating in the party’s membership registration and encouraging others to be part of the movement shaping a better Imota LCDA,” he said.

Hon. BSA further emphasised that participation must remain voluntary, noting that no individual should be forced or victimised for choosing otherwise.

“Members should be persuaded through dialogue and reassurance. The APC remains the party of choice for the masses,” he added.

The Council Chairman also disclosed that a strategic meeting with youth groups across Imota LCDA was held last Friday, where logistics were provided to support youth participation in the ongoing e-membership registration. This, he noted, aligns with his administration’s broader commitment to grassroots sensitisation and youth engagement.

Reaffirming his dedication to strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, Hon. BSA urged community stakeholders to mobilise, canvass, and galvanise residents to ensure Imota LCDA and the Ikorodu Division remain the highest contributors to APC membership registration in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Since the commencement of the APC e-membership registration, Hon. Benson has consistently adopted a door-to-door engagement strategy, interfacing with market leaders, transport unions, youth organizations, and other grassroots stakeholders to promote inclusiveness and mass participation.

Relatedly, statistics released on January 16, 2026, indicate that Ikorodu is currently leading APC online membership registration across Lagos State with 23,857 registrations, representing 9.3% of total entries recorded statewide.
